2010 Video Contest Rules
“No Problem Gambler Stands Alone”

Top Prize:  $300 Gift Card to University of Oregon Bookstore

DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 30, 2010!

Eligibility:

Contest is open to all Oregonian residents. Individuals or groups can participate. ALL participants MUST complete the consent form (English/Spanish). All participants agree to release their video to the public for no charge, and participants will be given proper citation for their work.Print Rules

Target Audience:

General public

Length:  

30 seconds to 120 seconds (2 min, 0 sec.)

Basic theme:

“No Problem Gambler Stands Alone”  (problem gambling affects many people, not just the problem gambler; problem gamblers don’t have to be alone and have support available).

NOTE: ALL entries MUST include in writing the free 24-hour problem gambling helpline 1-877-MY-LIMIT (and/or www.1877mylimit.org) and that help for problem gambling is free, confidential & it works.

Titles are subject to modification following judging.

Other messages which will be used in judging entries:

Your video should include one or more of the following::

  • The average problem gambler affects 6-12 others
  • There is a direct link between problem gambling and financial/family problems
  • Gambling problems can happen to anyone
  • People who gamble for entertainment should set and stick to a limit of  time and money
  • Signs of problem gambling: lying about gambling and betting more than  you intended to, etc. (see the signs of problem gambling page for more information)
  • Gambling addiction is a problem many of us are not aware of  (hidden addiction)
  • People can recover from gambling problems; help for problem gamblers AND their loved ones is available – it is free, confidential, and it works

Same copyright rules as YouTube material (http://www.youtube.com/t/howto_copyright). Participants MUST secure written consent to use any music that is not original or in the public domain (entries will be disqualified without proper consent)

Deadline:

Videos are due TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 30 by NOON. Email your video to videos@preventionlane.org or upload to your YouTube or other account and send us the link. If you need to send a DVD copy, it must be RECEIVED by November 10 and sent to: Lane County H&HS - Problem Gambling Prevention | 151 W. 7th Ave, Room 520| Eugene, OR 97401. If you are unsure about what format of video you can send, contact julie.hynes@co.lane.or.us PRIOR to the due date.

Judging & Prizes

ALL eligible entries will receive a minimum of $5 in Dutch Bros certificates for participating.

The top three (3) videos will be selected by a committee & online poll Awardees will be notified no later than December 7, 2010. Preference in judging will be given to videos created by youth & young adults. Prizes are:

  • 1st place: $300 gift card to University of Oregon Bookstore (purchases can be made in stores or online)
  • 2nd place: $100 gift card to University of Oregon Bookstore (purchases can be made in stores or online)
  • 3rd place: $25 Office Depot gift card
