For Veterans and their Loved Ones
Veterans in Lane County
There are more than 34,000 veterans living in Lane County.
The Mental Health Advisory Committee/Local Alcohol and Drug Planning Committee Ad hoc Veterans Committee was created to help our community welcome back our returning veterans.
The mission of the ad hoc veterans committee is to identify resources and find solutions to the barriers in Lane County that prevent our Oregon National Guard service members, veterans and their families from accessing local services with a focus on mental health needs. We see this as a three-pronged approach:
1) Community education & awareness: Affirm support for the Oregon National Guard families - mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, daughters, sons as valued members of our communities.
2) Community support & participation: Build upon identified resources and community strengths in Lane County that support services to Oregon National Guard members and their families, work to foster and increase welcoming activities, hosted community events, and, identify and encourage local businesses and agencies to become more veteran and dependent friendly through outreach and marketing.
3) Resource assessment: Identify local medical and mental health resources and community strengths in Lane County that support services to Oregon National Guard service members, veterans and their families; identify gaps and needs in mental health and addiction treatment services; review of the online data base (211Info) for inclusion of those identified resources; and, assistance in updating 211Info as indicated.
Please let us know if you have resources to offer, know of resources that aren't listed or would like to assist in another way.
Thank you for supporting our Veterans!
