Renee Mulligan coordinates the Healthy Communities grant, focusing on worksite wellness, mental health promotion and chronic disease prevention. As a non-native Oregonian, Renee came to Lane County Public Health with a variety of experience in prevention and health education, most recently working in Health Promotion at the University of Oregon.
Prior to moving to Eugene in 2012, she worked in diabetes prevention with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in the mountains of western North Carolina, coordinating a CDC-funded project to promote traditional foods and traditional forms of physical activity.
As a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Renee is passionate about engaging individuals and communities in efforts to improve wellness and support healthy lifestyle choices. She is currently pursuing a Wellness Coach Certificate through Mayo Clinic. In her spare time, Renee teaches and practices yoga, and enjoys gardening, hiking, camping, mountain biking and exploring the beautiful state of Oregon that she now calls home.
