Christiane is a Community Health Analyst who will be working on Tobacco Prevention and coordinating the Sustainable Relationships in Community Health (SRCH) grant. As the SRCH Coordinator, Christiane will be convening an ongoing partnership between Lane County Public Health, Trillium, Senior and Disability Services, the Community Health Centers of Lane County, and our newest member: the Eugene Family YMCA. Through this partnership we will be improving referral systems for tobacco cessation and the Diabetes Prevention Program. Christiane will also be working on the following tobacco prevention initiatives: expanding tobacco retail licensing throughout the county, raising the tobacco sales age to 21, and creating or expanding tobacco-free areas, such as worksites, county parks, and Downtown Eugene
Christiane was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She recently graduated with her Master of Public Health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University in the city of New York. Her master’s program was through the Population and Family Health Department with a Global Health Certificate. As a graduate student, Christiane worked as a program analyst for Planned Parenthood Global, mainly conducting research on sexual behavior in underserved communities in Peru. She also worked for the United Nations Population Fund assisting with policy analysis for three different regional desks: Asia and Pacific, Latin America and Caribbean, and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Prior to graduate school, Christiane served two years as a community health worker for the Peace Corps in Madagascar. She also holds a BA in psychology and Spanish from California State University Channel Islands. As an undergraduate, she spent a year studying abroad in Spain. Christiane enjoys the arts, and is a classically trained singer (Mozart is her hero). She enjoys traveling and has been to 15 different countries. A recent transplant to Eugene, Christiane loves discovering the city on foot and walks about 5 miles a day.
