The George Washington University Medical Center’s Ensuring Solutions program offers the Alcohol Cost Calculator website. The calculators serve to demonstrate costs of alcohol on a community and national level to businesses, kids, health plans, and also provides a calculator for “return on investment.”

The Alcohol Policy Information System (APIS)
The Alcohol Policy Information System (APIS) is an online resource that provides detailed information on a wide variety of alcohol-related policies in the United States at both State and Federal levels. It features compilations and analyses of alcohol-related statutes and regulations. Designed primarily as a tool for researchers, APIS simplifies the process of ascertaining the state of the law for studies on the effects and effectiveness of alcohol-related policies.

CSPI helps focus public and decision-maker attention on high-leverage policy reforms to reduce the devastating health and social consequences of drinking.

CollegeDrinkingPrevention.gov
This NIAAA-sponsored site provides research-based information about the nature and extent of dangerous drinking to high school and college administrators, students, parents, community leaders, policymakers, researchers, and members of the retail beverage industry; and offers recommendations to college and university presidents on the potential effectiveness of current strategies to reverse the culture of drinking on campus.

FACE Project
“FACE is a national non-profit organization that supports sensible alcohol policies and practices through the development of messages, strategies and training designed to create public awareness and action on alcohol issues.” The website includes free online resources, event calendar, information on training, and more.

SBIRT stands for screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment— an evidence-based, effective method to intervene in alcohol and drug misuse, but that is currently underused in the primary care setting in the United States. This site provides tools for primary care providers to screen, intervene (using motivational interviewing), and refer individuals to alcohol/drug treatment.
