Applied ... Suicide... Intervention... Skills... Training...

is an internationally recognized, evidence-based skills-building workshop that prepares caregivers of all kinds to provide suicide first aid interventions. 

This training is designed to teach professionals and non-professionals alike how to recognize suicide risk, determine what and how to say, and do that which will serve to keep the person safe until the next level of care can become involved.

This is a two-day didactic and experiential workshop. Pre-registration and attendance for the two full days is required.

Participants will be able to:

  • Recognize attitudes about suicide
  • Identify suicide factors and estimate risk
  • Intervene with a person at risk to make them safe
  • List resources available to a person at risk
  • Commit to help coordinate social support for a person at risk

Who should take this training?

This training is for any person in a position of
trust. This includes:

  • School Nurses
  • Teachers
  • Counselors
  • Mental Health Professionals
  • Physicians
  • Police and Corrections staff
  • Juvenile and Adult Court staff
  • School support staff
  • Youth workers
  • Coaches
  • Community volunteers
  • Anyone in a position to help a person at risk for suicide.
